Can A Real Estate Put Pictures Up At The Front Of Your Property When Selling A Rental?

I rent a property that is now up for auction. Is the real estate allowed to post a “for auction” sign at the front of the property that displays pictures of inside my home and my furniture etc?

  1. Landlord

This is NOT your property. As you stated, you are a renter.
They are allowed to display as many pictures of THEIR property that they want.
If you have a problem take different pictures, with your furniture removed and give those to them.
And no, the landlord is not liable if you are robbed. You need to file under your own insurance.

Yes it’s legal to advertise the property for sale or auction and photos of the interior just aid in the marketing of the property. Yes, reputable agents will carry insurance to cover any potential problems. The unit is probably secured with a “lock box” that only real estate agents will have access to. You are entitled to reasonable notice when the property is being shown.

That’s an interesting question. Check with a lawyer.
I’d say to check your lease, and you should. However, I doubt that that situation is addressed in your lease. Thus, the legal answer lies elsewhere, in law.
Your point regarding the house getting robbed is also a good one. I expect your lease says that the owner will provide reasonable security, or something like that. It may also put the burden on you to point out problems with security (for instance, a lock that doesn’t work or a broken window). There may be some burden on you to raise the issue with the landlord regarding security. I don’t know, but there could be.
So: Definitely check with a lawyer. I’m sure there are limits to what the owner can do; I’m just not sure if he/she has overstepped those limits.
    Good luck.

They do not have the right to post pictures of your personal belongings without your consent, they also have no right to have taken those pictures without your consent, but if you did give consent thats a different matter.
